WELCOME TO BERHAMPORE COLLEGE
Nestled at the heart of Murshidabad District, Berhampore College, has a proud history of inspiring and helping students since its foundation in 1963. Initially started as Raja Krishnath College of Commerce, the college was renamed in 1975 owing to the introduction of Arts Stream in collaboration with Calcutta University and the Government of West Bengal. Today, Berhampore College includes courses in Humanities, Commerce and Science Streams offering undergraduate degrees in Bengali, English, Philosophy, History, Geography, Film Studies, Commerce, Economics, Sanskrit, Mathematics, and Statistics to accommodate the needs of its varied and diverse student demographic. Affiliated with UGC under 2f and 12B, this NAAC accredited college has, in the recent years, under the able leadership of its esteemed Principal Dr. Samaresh Mandal, prioritized its commitment to education through innovative classroom learning. Having had a humble start without any infrastructure in which to hold classes, the college now boasts of --- classrooms and excellent facilities like the Seminar Hall, Conference Room, Gymnasium, and a well-equipped Guest house.
Furthermore, in the recent years, the college has augmented its purpose-built teaching facilities to include a Smart classroom, an Auditorium (Kavi Nazrul Manch), as well as a Boy’s Hostel (Sampriti) and a Girl’s Common Room (Begum Rokeya Hall). At Berhampore College we stress on individual and intellectual development through innovative and nuanced classroom learning as well as extra-curricular learning through social outreach programmes and other activities organized by a very active NSS unit. We believe that education does not begin and end with textbooks and classrooms, consequently, our sincere goal is to provide our students with a firm foundation on which to build personal and professional successes as they emerge as productive participants in their community, country and the world.
