STUDENTS SUPPORT PROGRAMMES

College Library

The college has one central library which is situated at the 2nd floor of administrative building. The college takes pride in a rich collection of books, classics as well as titles, on modern topics with national and global interest. Students have been used the library for lending books when required by using their own library card. Normally students of general courses are allowed to get one book at a time, while the Honours students can get more than one book. Moreover, the students can enjoy the facility of using open access library Reading Room, enriched in Text and Reference Books of the latest edition, journals, Syllabi, Magazines, Question Papers and Daily Newspapers within Library hours. Books can normally be retained by the students for 15 days at a stretch. In addition to these, poor as well as meritorious students can avail themselves of the facility of Student’s Book Bank.

Students have to collect their library Card within one month from the date of admission which is distributed by the office of library on producing their admission receipts. They abide by the rules and regulations printed on the reverse side of the library card.

Recently, Library has introduced partial automated process by using Library software KOHA.

Common Room

Common room has huge importance as it serves the purpose of recreation-cum-reading room for the students of the college in their leisure hours. Berhampore college has two separate common rooms for both boys and girls students. The Boys’ common room is situated in the ground floor of the South-west end of the college premises while the girls’ common room is situated besides Teachers’ room. They may play indoor games, like Table Tennis, Carom, ludo, Chess etc. in their common room.

Cycle Shed

Students have to keep their cycles in the college Cycle shed which is situated in the ground floor of administrative building under supervision of security personnel.

Computer Lab & Training Facility

The college has an agreement (MOU) with DOEACC for providing Computer Training course to the Students at a concessional rate since 1995. The DOEACC is an autonomous body of the Department of the Information Technology, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Government of India. The DOEACC has provided fully equipped Computer Lab with more than 15 computers. Details about it may be had from the office of the DOEACC in the college premises. After completion of course the DOEACC has been awarding course certificate to the students.

Canteen Facility

The college has one canteen which is situated on the south-west end of college premises. Every Student can avail himself/herself of the facility of the cheap canteen during the college hours.

Students’ Health Home Facility

Every student of the college is the member of the Student’s Health Home Unit of the college and is entitled to all kinds of medical facilities provided by the District Regional Centre of the Student’s Health Home.

Students’ Multi-Gymnasium

The college authority has opened up Student’s Gymnasium which was constructed by using the financial assistance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Govt. of India and the building was constructed by the college at its own cost. Now, every student is entitled to take help of the Gym at free of cost. It is the responsibility of the college authority to look after the Student’s physical fitness providing necessary equipment’s for this purpose.

Scholarships, Stipends and Concessions

Stipends are avail per rule of the Directorate of Public Instruction, Govt. of West Bengal, Scheduled Cast, Tribe and Minority Welfare Department, Govt. of West Bengal.

Educational Excursion

The Economics and Geography departments of the College have been regularly organized Educational Excursion, field tour & survey for the well being of the students.

Hostel Facility

The college provides accommodation to 45 male students on merit-cum-necessity basis in the Students’ Hostel, Sampriti. Rules and Regulations for admission to the College Hostel may be had from the Superintendent of the College Hostel.

National Service Scheme

The college has one N.S.S. unit which functions with proper mission and motivation.
